Does the Human Origins Genotyping Laboratory only do research on Humans?   NO!  HOGL and the Genomic Analysis and Technology Core began with Dr. Michael Hammer's innovative research to better understand the genomic and evolutionary factors shaping patterns of human variation and to test models of human origins. While tracing our ancestral origins through the Genographic Project and assisting genealogists in building their family trees through Family Tree DNA is still our primary focus, we have expanded our scope to include many non-human projects addressing questions of phylogeny, phylogeography, dispersal, hybridization and conservation.
