Research Technician
I joined the amazing Human Origins Genotyping Laboratory team as an
undergraduate working on National Geographic’s Genographic Project in
January of 2007. This inspiring work environment lead me to my current position as a full
time Research Technician in the lab. I now aid Allison Buchanan in the
management and workflow of the MP 6, 7 and 8 reactions on 30
Y-chromosome loci, as well as assist with the high throughput that
public DNA samples undergo via our additional genotyping tests we run
each week.
I graduated with a B.A. in
ecology and evolutionary biology and a minor in psychology in May of
2008 from the University of Arizona, and may eventually continue on to
graduate school. The most important aspect to me that my future
hopefully entails is my involvement in wildlife conservation efforts,
whether that be through genetic techniques I may acquire here or some
other research medium.
I’d like to give
a shout out to birds, herpetofauna, nature in general, Planet Earth,
Futurama, food, my lab-mates and the dog I’ll have some day.
