Research Technician
I began working in the
lab as an undergraduate researcher in the summer of 2005 and am
currently the MP 6, 7 and 8 test manager. The MP 6, 7 and 8 multiplex
reactions increase HOGL's testable microsatellite collection by 30
Y-chromosome loci. In addition, I handle development and testing services for the Mouse Project, a collaboration with the Doetschman Lab
mouse facility in BIO5. Along with my colleague Tara Luckau, I am also developing a real-time PCR to detect and quantify the fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis that is negatively affecting amphibian populations worldwide.
In May of 2007, I received a B.S. in general biology with a minor in
chemistry from the University of Arizona. Eventually I plan on going
back to school to study any combination of biotechnology, conservation,
herpetology, and evolutionary biology.
Outside of the lab I enjoy cooking, scuba diving, reading, camping,
being outside, live music, reptiles (in particular my kingsnake Magnus)
and watching nerdy biology documentaries with friends.
